Good news for gamers, bad news for video game publishers. A new report has stated that the cost of games that came out on or before the holidays will stay at their slashed prices. Games like Prince of Persia, Madden, Guitar Hero, Mirror’s Edge, and Saints Row 2. And that the median price for Wii games is down to $39.99 from its previous average of $49.99. Brand new games for 360 and PS3 however, will still keep their normal $59.99 price tag. This price too may come down over time depending on sales.

These lower prices will eat into publishers profit margins and sales could take a 20% hit. Part of this is due to the recession and conumers not willing to pay 50-60 dollars for games that came out 3-4 months prior.
